- The moment of time when Dylan realized that he too could be a part of music struck this lad at the ripe old age of sometime before he was ten. Born in North Carolina to a preacher’s family this man along side his sister has been playing piano since the mere age of three years old.
In the mid-60′s he worked and recorded with his sister for over 10 years. Together, they were a force to be reckoned with. They were even invited as special envoy to perform for the king of Morroco and the president of France.
As time went on, Sam broke away from his sister’s shadow to pursue his own musical career. As an artist, Sam Waymon developed his own unique style that combined everything from gospel to jazz. His doctrine in music has enabled him to work with some of the elites in the entertainment industry.
As his music career soared, sam went on to record for record labels like: RCA, Polygram, and his own label Resolution records.
He has worked side by side with legendary artist like: Miles Davis, Donnie Hathaway, Roberta Flack, Phyllis Hyman, groups like: The 5th dimension, Main Ingredient, and the list goes on and on.
During the 1970′s and 80′s sam reached new heights and worked with some of our most critically acclaimed film directors. Writing music and scores for films like: Ganja and Hess (directed by Bill Gunn) and Weeds (directed by John D Hancock) and more.
But perhaps one of his greatest achievements came in the 90′s while working along side american film maker, screen writer and producer, Jonathan Demme, when he partnered with Leronald Walker and wrote it’s in your eyes for the highly acclaimed movie philadelphia. This composition made him and award winning composer.
